Important Changes to Paying your Levies via DEFT

We would like to advise you of some upcoming changes to the DEFT payment options available for you to pay your levy contributions.

A reminder of what will be changing from Friday 1 November:

You’ll no longer be able to:

  • write or deposit cheques
  • deposit or request bank cheques – reminder to deposit Macquarie bank cheques before November
  • deposit cash or cheques over the counter at NAB branches
  • DEFT will no longer accept mail-in cheques (via the Locked baf services), however cheques will contine to be accepted in-store at Australia Post if you provide payers with a barcode.

As a result of these changes, you will notice a new look and feel on your next levy notice. Our commitment remains the same, to provide you with a range of different options to make your payments.  The full range of payment options available to you will be detailed on the levy notice and are also listed below.

Ways to pay

  1. Card or bank account at DEFT.com.au: Make a one-off card payment or create a DEFT profile to set up future-dated or recurring payments. Visit deft.com.au for more information.
  2. BPAY: Pay through your bank’s online banking or telephone banking service.
Your BPAY Biller Code and CRN can be found on your levy notice.
  3. Post Billpay: If you need to pay in person, ask us for a barcode which you can present at Australia Post to pay by eftpos or cheque.

Please note, transaction fees may apply to some payment methods.

REMOVING DEFT Phonepay and MAIL (LOCKED BAG)

If you currently mail a cheque into the DEFT locked bag, these options will be removed from November 2024.  Alternative payment options are outlined above.
